The Tombaugh Gallery is pleased to present Soul of Silk, an exhibition of silk art and wearables by Las Cruces artist Judy Licht. The show opens Sunday, September 14, with a reception and artist’s demonstration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and closes Friday, October 24.  Judy Licht delights in watching dye and silk merge, creating a single entity that is both vivid color and sensuous fabric. Silk painting is an unusual medium and the show illustrates its rich variety. Judy draws her inspiration from the natural world, and is especially interested in the contrast between the harshness of the desert and the softness of the silk.  The Tombaugh Gallery, located inside the Unitarian Universalist Church at 2000 S. No Strings Theatre Company opens its 14th Season with “Rocket Man”“Rocket Man” by Steven Dietz and directed by Ceil Herman opens Friday, August 29 and runs through Sunday, September 14 at the Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Downtown Mall. “Rocket Man” is a serious comedy about the road not taken.  Performances are Fridays and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Sunday matinees on September 7 and 14 at 2:30 p.m. and a Thursday evening performance on September 11 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.00 regular admission, $10.00 for students and seniors over 65 and all seats on Thursday are $8.00.
